To all those Canadians out there, whether at home or abroad: Happy Canada Day!

Fun Fact (because who doesn’t love interesting and yet relatively useless information?): The national holiday we now know as “Canada Day” was first established by statute in 1879 under the name of “Dominion Day”, to commemorate the anniversary of the formation of the union of the British North America provinces in a federation under the name of Canada on July 1st. Back then, it was called Dominion Day – and in fact, it only became known as Canada Day in 1982… Imagine that.

Check out the special events today in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa.
